The SIOP® II Institute helps SIOP® I graduates expand their understanding of the SIOP® Model and learn successful coaching and implementation strategies.
During the two day workshop, participants will build upon information learned at the SIOP® I and will have the opportunity to practice rating SIOP® Model lessons, revise a sheltered lesson incorporating SIOP® techniques and discuss and write an action plan for training on the SIOP® Model.
About the SIOP® Model
Based on years of research, the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP®) Model is a scientifically-validated framework for improving the academic achievement of English learners. Developed by Dr. Jana Echevarría, Dr. MaryEllen Vogt and Dr. Deborah Short, the SIOP® Model assists more than 450,000 educators in U.S. schools, providing administrators, specialists, coordinators and teachers with a practical, research-driven model of sheltered instruction.

Training Outcomes
SIOP® II Institute participants will enhance their understanding and use of the SIOP® Model, the research behind SIOP®, and the content; as well as practice in each of the eight components of the model.
By the end of the institute participants will be able to:
- Develop techniques to help teachers differentiate classroom instruction
- Establish inter-rater reliability through video rating
- Become familiar with ideas for classroom application of the SIOP® Model
- Develop an action plan
